Hello and welcome to SIGNING FAMILIES! We are an instructional sign language company owned by Louise Masin Sattler, a School Psychologist with over two decades of Sign Language instructional experience.
SIGNING FAMILIES
is excited to offer a variety of classes, workshops and DVDs to help you to
learn sign language or to teach others sign language (such as with our popular
Baby Sign class or workshops for those who work with individuals with special
needs). We recognize that all Sign Language is not the same. Thus, we offer
a “menu” of Sign Language instruction. Just press the CLASSES
button on the sidebar to see our list of classes and workshops
for details.
Our goal is to teach Sign Language to anyone who wishes to learn by using fun,
interactive and “user friendly” techniques! You are never too old
to learn to sign. We base our classes/workshops on American Sign Language (ASL)
or signing with English word order (depending on your needs).

Louise’s workshops are frequently requested so you are advised to book
yours early! If you can’t make a workshop or don’t have the time

WE DEVELOP INSTRUCTIONAL SIGN LANGUAGE CLASSES and WORKSHOPS THAT ARE SPECIFIC TO YOUR NEEDS! We do not offer “cookie cutter” classes/workshops because each family, group, school, business or healthcare facility may have different needs- such as a certain vocabulary base. Each class is catered to what you need to learn.
Our classes and workshops are INTERACTIVE!
FUN! We teach the signs using
games and
memorization techniques that will help you to recall the signs
later! Don’t plan on being a passive learner. Our SIGNING
FAMILIES staff is dynamic and makes
sure that everyone participates - for language is not something you learn passively!
Expect to laugh and be entertained while you learn
this beautiful visual language. And yes, we voice (speak) during
our classes.
Generally, people ask for our workshops to be one of the following lengths of time:
Each class has a workshop DVD. This means that
when you arrive home you don’t need to feel defeated that you forgot some
of the signs! We can only recall so much information at one time! You just pop
in your Signing Families
workshop DVD and review your signs! You also can enjoy some extra signs on each
DVD and even some bonus features on our newer DVD (Baby,
Toddler and Preschool Sign Language).
